I'm Writing A Bodybuilding Book - Please Help!
Filed Under (Blog) by Dane on 14-02-2008
Hey Guys,
I'm currently writing a book about bodybuilding. It includes sections on diets for muscle gain and fat loss, workouts, motivation help, my recommendations on supplements and it's about half done so far. It's a fully comprehensive book that takes you the reader through all the steps of bodybuilding and teaches some shortcuts and tips that you wont hear unless you've been training for a long time.
If you want a free copy of the book which is going to be sold for $67 then please give me some idea's of what I can add to the course that would be valuable to you. What is your biggest questions about anything to do with bodybuilding? How can I make it easier to understand, or add in extra information that you think would improve the book.
All you have to do is leave a comment after this post (or email me at info [at] bodybuilding-guru.com) with your advice or tips for the book. Once the book is finished in about 2 weeks time I'll send you a free copy to review and ask for your help with the final touches.
Thanks very much for your help and I hope to be hearing from you soon!
All the best,
Dane

Hi. The thing I most want from an e-book is how much muscle you can gain! No e-book specifies a range. Some people expect a lot and when they don't see the results they don't follor the e-book. SO give a reasonable range. Also this is probably not really important and actually kind of dumb but I always wanted to be able to do cool hings with my muscles. Kind or weird. For example, pec bouncing I still don't know how to do them. Maybe stomach vaccuum. What motivates me the most is seeing other gains that followed a similar program and did good on. I want to see like a before and after gains and pictures and I would probably work hard knowing maybe that I would get gains like that to if I work hard. I think for a diet a traditional a lot of protein and calories thing is very classic. I would like something unque. Not like strange foods or anything. If you been in the bodybuilding community there has been his diet that eating more fat makes you lose fat and it increases testostrone. That was cool and something like that would be great. Good luck in writing your e-book and can't wait for my copy!
Hey Andrew,
Thanks for the idea's. I'll be sure to include it all in the book and send a copy your way.
Please keep the idea's coming guys!
The most important thing to cover is what exercises are most effective for beginers, and nutrition for beginers as well. Nutrition is very important and in the world of fast fried garbage most people have no idea what foods to eat and when. Also, detailed catagories of foods, fast carbs, slow carbs, protiens etc.
Ok, thanks Mike, I've pretty much covered the exercises and nutrition, but I'll include the detailed categories of foods too.
Thanks for your input and I'll send you a copy of the book soon
ATTENTION EVERYONE - If you have any idea's for a unique title for the book that would be great too
i think you should input some basic examples of diets, diet for bulking and for cutting. and im shure you wont forget to recomend some supplements to aid the diet.i think its also gr8 to have some recipies of high protein meals, and low carb meals.also the protein shakes and bars that you can make yourself at home.how about also to emphesise that cardio is a very important role in bodybuilding.
The name i just had on the top of my head for the book is "The Key to Success Of Bodybuilding"
I'd say the most important topic would be nutrition and give specifics. No point in just saying 'eat low GI carbs for slow burning energy', give some examples - ie '30-45mins before your workout you should be trying to take in about x amount of high GI carbs in the form of a, b or c to give your body some fuel to burn during your workout'
I'd be interested to also see recipes for small meals throughout the day as the same old same old gets a bit boring after a while.
I've always thought bodybuilding had a science aspect to it. I think a small section explaining muscle growth/limitations. The math behind nutrition (i've only ever seen this once before). Calculations a person can do to work out their nutritional requirements. Explain what is meant by 'overtraining.'
If I think of any more i'll post them.
Good luck with the book.
I forgot to add a title:
'The Bodybuilding Book of Knowledge'
well i have just recently started weight training and i found that its hard to know what exact exercise does what muscle and it would be good to tell what muscle does what and how to build it and you recommended routine for that muscle.
and in the book you should have a section on recommended routines for different looks so if some one wants a 6 pack they go to that routine, if they want big tris and bis that check that routine cause being a beginner that would be great to see.
and for the title:
DANES MUSCLE BIBLE
learn the ways of bodybuilding
good luck man.
You have probably already covered this, but you could clarify the importance of compound exerises over isolation, and when and how much to do of each. I know a lot of people focus solely on isolation, whereas others may focus on compounds, and essentially one needs the best of both worlds. Another point is working out at home. Ideally I would love to own a home gym and if you were to recommended what equipment is neccessary, whats involved etc. would be cool. Just a few ideas…
Hi Dane, I guess an obvious name could be the Bodybuilding Bible?
Some things I'd like to see are:
1. The mental process of having good form and isolating a muscle. Eg, you have to lock your elbows in to isolate your bicep, or you have to squeeze your pecs to engage them properly. Just good form technique advice would be great.
2. A basic guide how to schedule your food. We all know like 6 meals, every 2 or 3 hours, but go further, and talk about reducing carbs late at night to stop fat storage, and having a high GI carb before the gym to boost your energy.
My 2c worth, hope it sparks some ideas

Female specific content. It's very hard to find information a routines specifically for women. It can be difficult following Male routines particularly since I won't make the same sorts of gains, general have different strenghts and weaknesses and sometimes very different goals.
hi im 16 and i have recently strted weight lifting, is it ok to do this at my age? becuase some people have told em no to but as i feel that i am skinny i feel i want to. what would be a good diet and excersize routine to help me to bulk up?
Hi!
Im 16 years old, too… and my question is: is it right to start with bodybuilding in so young years? Could it damage the body or stop the naturally growth of the body? That are questions, im interested in!
Also informations about supplements for "youngsters" is really important!

Hey buddy..what i think you should add you your book is a section on some of the best work outs for each muscle, necause there are so many workout people dont know what ones to do. Thanks
Hi! I wonder if you are going to add a chapter with exercises which can bee done at home (like pushups etc.) without going to a gym? It would be great if training programs where written in tables so they where easier to read and get the most important information like number of exercises done in particular day. Hope I help a bit
hey…writer..in my opinion..first of all the book you are writing must be easyly available especially for people from different country…. you can do it in e-book style where we can download it….the item that i think you should be included in your book are some effective workout plan or style with pictures, some eating food and technique for maximun muscle gain, truth about supplement so that all teenagers know the usage of different supplement, some muscle-building myth, and not forget on how to increase testorone level naturally which is important in bodybuilding. And last, do include some frequent ask question and answer by the teenagers. Hope that this idea can help you in writing the book..
Hi being a beginner in bodybuilding other than just lifting weights , i would love for you to cover the foundation in simple terms of a successful bodybuilding technique that anyone can follow, from eating healthy to when to eat , when to lift , how to lift etc. Im sure you have stories and errors that you have committed that we all probably do sooner or later so why not mention them there.
As for the name , i would like to see " The simple plan for natural bodybuilding"
Try including workout sheets for busy lifestyles etc and blank ones so the reader can read your book and determine what is best for them and print it out.
As mentioned earlier a good frequently asked questions and answers is a good section such as what age is best etc. it also makes sure in future versions of the book you can include the new information. Keep in mind when people read this they will take in word for word so just double check all your information.
Another extra thing to include would be pictures of exercises so people can just have a look how they are done. When reading on how to do things I personally get really confused and pictures and videos make things easier and making sure people use the right form for exercises int he beginning will make sure they are not wasting time or hurting themselves and shows you know what you are talking about.
I know some of this has probably been covered, but I will mention everything that comes to mind and hopefully something I write down might help with the book.
Supplements - What works and what not to waste money on. I know this was big with me when I first started to get back to lifting.
Critical feeding times - Morning, pre-workout, post-workout, and pre-bedtime.
Proper Rest and Recovery - sleep is so important for body to rebuild.
Training with an injury or when sick.
Talk about choosing a proper workout partner. One that is reliable and will push to get your best work in.
What weights you use in your workout (free or cable) - what is needed and what is not. What to look for in joining a gym or how to put a home gym together.
These are just a few of the things that will help out somebody that is looking to get started.
Shoot me an email I might be able to throw some more ideas your way.
I think it is important to have constant motivation in the book, and to have things in it that help people recognise when they have achieved. This will then boost their feeling of wellbeing and make the book that they can trust and enjoy! There is nothing worse than following a program and not really feeling it is there to support you and keep you going!
Dane, first and foremost congrats on the amazing transformation you are accomplishing.
As for your e-book, the most important part of bodybuilding is comprehensive nutrition. You should make sure there are a bunch of mathematical formulas on how much protein/carbs/fats are needed for a person. Its also important for people to understand what foods to eat, what to avoid, how much to portion to make sure they are on the correct route to their goals. Also its important to also make sure that the formulas are separated by goals. I have been out of the gym for the last 2 or 3 years now and I have put on a considerable amount fat on. My immediate goals would be very different that another man with a similar height of 5'9 220 lbs. But when I say I want to trim the fat, I mean that I need to lose 20 lbs. If another man were to say the same depending on what muscular shape he was in before he may need to lose 70! The dietary requirements would be dramatically different.
Good luck on the book.
most bodybuilding books just give a lot of know infomation, so to make yours atand out get some new advice in there. also im 16 and started training lightly at 14, and i find that there is not a lot of infomation for teens! so could you put some teen advice in you book.
thanks jamie.
